i doubt SBC even screwed up, why would a DSL technician be deleting user files unless the guy saved his scripts in c/windows/drivers or something like that.
that is what Trusted Computing is all about, it wouldn't even require that current hardware be altered if the computer reads and passes along the encrypted stream possibly adding a control channel of some sort so the computer can adjust the properties and playback without having access to the data stream itself
for the purposes of law joining more than two people is problamatic in many ways, should medical decisions when one member of a group marriage be decided by a vote? or should there be a ranking where certain partners are lesser than others?
also it would eliminate insurance for families because no insurance company would want to deal with that.
a simple law can cover "any one unmarried person may marry any other unmarried person" without creating all sorts of problems for other institutions which recognize married couples in one way or another.

there is nothing illegal about an employer snooping on all traffic. there is nothing illegal about your empoyer seeing your bank info as long as you are informed that all traffic is monitored you give implicit consent by submitting that information through their network

you can do some hardware hacking to demacrovision a VHS recorder
