It's true-- DVDs have lots of extras, etc.-- i.e. incentives -- to make you want to buy them.
There's pretty much no real incentive right now to plunk down so much money for a shoddy RIAA-approved product, when you can get better stuff for free or used.
Especially when so much of the cost goes toward supporting an entrenched, bloated, and backwards-thinking dinosaur of an industry.
Good point. If anything, you might say that the RIAA is actually trying to win goodwill from paying customers, protecting their interests, etc...
