Seems likely to me that IBM would just initiate a takeover and then shut SCO down once it has control.
Devalues the stock so all the people who want big money don't get any, and IBM comes away from it with the rights to a whole bunch of stuff.
and get thrown in jail?
At least they admitted their error on this one.
If someone pointed a flaw out in a system I was ultimately responsible for, I'd have him fix it and give him a bonus or something.

Why WMA? Probably so they can suck up to M$ and so they can claim they're using a more secure format if anyone yells at them.
