Looks like in my next upgrading / reinstalling cycle XFS will be the filesystem I use on my media files, the / will still be ext2 ( hey, aint broken don't fix it )
I've got a 120 gig WD disk with JFS in my fileserver at my home network work. It's fast and since it's sharing multimedia, there is a lot of moving around, deleting and copying files around and still it's very fast writing on it ( according to my experience ).
At least my experience is that JFS is way faster than that, altough I haven't tested xfs yet ( I plan to soon ). ext3 is way slower.
