Have to second this - I was an Air Force Ammo Troop for 6 years. Security Forces is exactly as you said "default slot" it is what is given to the lowest scroring ASVAB folks and usually if you wash out of "higher level" stuff, you get slammed down to AMMO or SP. Also, it is the largest AFSC in the Air Force (almost 3 to 1 against the rest of the AFSCs.)
This is not to knock on the good SF folks out there, depending on the base, many of them do much better than the average policeman, and have the training to do the job well (much better than the average medium-to-large city policeforce) - but it's no shock that it's difficult to land work outside of the military - for all those claims that employers like to see it on a resume etc. it has been detrimental to me in the past.
ESPN has raised the rates it charges Cable providers as well as Sat. providers far more than the cost of inflation - that is the number one reason that your bill is higher - they are the most expensive channel for any provider to deliver, yet - everyone seems to want them (I for one would kill for a cable company that says "Hey you don't watch fucking overpaid athletes play a game for money instead being productive members of society - sure thing here is our sans-ESPN/FOX SPORTS/SPORTS-O-RAMA/ETC, ETC, ETC package!" but that just ain't gonna happen.)
I have probably spent about 1 or 2 hours in my life watching ESPN, and I watch a hell of a lot of TV - and I would be damn glad to not pay for the rest of the subscriber base to be able to watch it - you want your damn sports - pay for 'em, I'm sick of it!

Primary differences between elements 2.0 and Photoshop 7 - no CMYK support, no lasso marquees (you have the quick mask mode of PS 7 basically) - Elements has a handy tool for making panoramics that isn't included in its more expensive cousin.
I can't see much use for attaching sticky notes to the "backs" of windows Uhhh How about doing research and jotting down notes from the sites you visit as you surf, easier than jumping between windows to track URLs etc... and god forbid we do anything different because we haven't done it that way before.
When people say stuff like "I can't see much use for..." then we never get features that people other than the person saying that might find useful, or helpful - there used to be a lot of users that said "I can't see the use for mice and icons." If they had been listened too - computers would still be a niche market that doesn't have the benefits to the world it does today - please don't blast the "people should know how to do everything under the sun with their PC to be allowed to use it" BS either - the growth of the GUI drove an industry and improved communication all over the world.
HERE HERE!! You know something I forgot to mention in my earlier posts, since I have wore my "Unofficial, illegal, paid for out of my own pocket with no profit potential, done out of love for the product and the OS movement" Firefox t-shirts I've had more than a dozen conversations with complete strangers about Firefox. They went similar to the conversation you mentioned above. If we had to wait for programmers to become clothing vendors, none of those conversations would have happened, and that was only two times ONE person went out in public with FF's logo on their chest. This is a devisive move on Moz's part and a bad move in general considering the fact that their most ardent supporters are going to be turned off by this sort of action.
Cut of what, I'm offering the graphics on that page for download for free, I don't make a red cent off of it, hell - it costs me money if it becomes a popular graphic because I have to pay for the hosting costs. It was my way of giving back to the developers with no intention of raking in any cash, but rather providing something useful in getting brand awareness out there.
I'm not able to contribute to the code, that's above my skill level, I built these graphics so I could make some tee-shirts for myself and a couple of friends to wear - and decided to offer them to others with similar interests - with the goal of raising the awareness of Firefox, and was polite enough to inform Mozilla's team about their existance - and offered to provide them with color seperated graphics for use in silk-screened tees with nothing other than a good feeling in my gut as reward. Somehow this hurts Mozilla?
Actually the FF logo has been very effective, I've gotten my mother and several "non-geek" friends to check out (and a few of them to make their primary browser) Firefox - because and I'll quote three of them "That's a cute logo."
Probably dumb luck, but it's interesting that this happens less than 48 hours after I put this page and sent it to the licensing and marketing folks at Mozilla - mainly because as they mention in the letter they don't offer much in their store. God forbid the community try to continue this grass roots movement that is OSS an get the word out that there is something on the planet besides IE to use.
I sent a request to their licensing folks to see if I can continue to offer the free graphics I spent a few hours on (reworking the FF logo as a vector, etc.) for download, but I'm not feeling too good about the reply I'll get. I guess that no one in this industry can work on something for the love of working on it, everything has to boil down to a f*ck!ng paycheck. I guess it's true that everyone has a price, and everyone that has a product used by more than 3 people HAS to have a team of lawyers to make being a fan/supporter hell... pretty damn disappointing.
You're right, that one was kinda stupid. I don't know the laws in Nevada, but here in PA they would have gotten her on SOMETHING. Perhaps "Assault on a police officer" when she slammed the door into him. THEN you get her for resisting arrest.
Yeah - this isn't an abuse of power - can she charge the officer with assault for slamming the door into her prior to her opening the door as he walked away? Watch the video again - the only person who got a door slammed into them was Mimi.
You know I get less respect for officers everyday when I see this attitude of "Hey, I can do whatever I want, I'm a cop" BS. What happened to assuming innocence. Police these days are so militant - even when there is no need to be, that they bring on the hatred of bacon on their own.
UHHH ok - daughter is dating scum bag thug life wannabe (sorry I live in TN I see this sort of redneck drama everytime I go out for soda) Dad says that it's a bad idea - daughter throws a hissy, hits dad (WHILE DRIVING!), he remains calm tells her to pull over (probably to keep her from running into a ditch and needing the services of folks like you) exits the vehicle, and smoke a cig while discussing the issue further.
Yep, you're right dumbass - sounds like she is a typical battered woman here. RTFA - oh and last I checked it's still legal to carry a pocket knife (he wasn't charged with carrying a weapon.) Look, I don't dip skoal, I don't wear tight fittin' jeans, or cowboy hats, but calling him jethro based on his choice of clothes and accent, and then implying that he beats women is going a bit far.
Wanna hear a better one! When I was in the Air Force in Misawa Air Base Japan, their was a rash of DUIs happening - the US Military bases a lot of stuff like DUI etc. on base on common US state laws, handled much the same way as well - so, they started arresting people for doing things like "opening the trunk of the car to get a jacket while the temp. was less than 30 outside, but 80 inside the bar!"
The conviction stood, and ruined a poor guys career (they needed to make an example) There was a lot of commander's calls about this, and the reasoning given was "They had the keys, were at the car, and were intoxicated so they had the ability to drive it while impaired" they didn't like it when I broght this up during their question and answer session and I mentioned that "everyone in this room has the ability to walk up on that stage and rip your testicles off and feed them to you, are you going to arrest us for assault and battery?" The other 550 or so people in the autitorium thought it was pretty good though since I got a standing ovation, and surprisingly no hassles from my commanders.
RTFA - #1 - wasn't his wife it was his 17 year old daughter! She had punched him and they had argued (guess that justifies all this in your book?)
AND WATCH THE VIDEO - he is calmly smoking a cigarette, standing outside the truck talking to her when the officer arrives - and the officer never once tries to find out her condition - the first interaction with the daughter is the second officer slamming the door of the truck in her face and then, once she opens the door throwing her to the ground, as he and two other officers tackle and cuff her.
But, hey who is talking about violence against women here?
Actually in most places (I'll use Maricopa County Arizona Sheriff's Dept. as an example) Your badge number doesn't mean anything, because it's not unique, they use an "EMPLOYEE NUMBER" to identify themselves, but no one knows to ask for that - cute way for the police to answer the "What's your badge number?" question without having to create huge amounts of paperwork for complaints when an arrest/ticket isn't involved.
I've had the unpleasant task of filing a complaint against a peace officer for assault in TN (This was over 10 years ago) because of mistaken identity (they got confused as to who had caused a disturbance that involved me as a witness and tackled me from behind upon arrival before asking a single question of anyone including the person that called them.)
I was threatened repeatedly in that nice "Are you sure you want to file these papers, I mean, most officers don't take kindly to this sort of thing." way.
Hey, I'm all for cops doing whatever it takes to defend themselves and make it home safe at night, but, the law is the law, and if you visit the site , and watch the video, he didn't break it, maybe he was a little bit rude, but it isn't a law that you have to have ID - he told him time and time again that he had none on him. Further, if the officer was so concerned about the 911 call, perhaps he should have taken Hiibel up on the offer to cuff him and DETAIN him (you can detain without arrest) while he actually did some investigation. ID or no ID he didn't care about why he was there, he just wanted to make an arrest when the guy didn't give in to his unconstitutional demand.
This is an important case because it could give the police that much more to arrest and detain and confiscate property with - I mean do you want to go to jail, and lose all your property, because you were near a disturbance and forgot your wallet at home?
Ok, so you are saying because you don't like microsoft Access is useless for something like - oh say keeping track of 20-30 suppliers address, phone numbers, and contact points, and then tracking notes of the phone calls you have placed to them?
You make a major assumption with this argument - that no one that uses Access takes the time to learn the product - a MAJOR assumption.
I prefer MySql myself, but I know access well, and I know SQL well also, does it make me less competent because I have yet one more tool in my bag?
Thanks
got a reference for me - the only time I've seen it was the way I quote it.

Real Alternative Works great for me, I have no problems viewing Real Media files on my Windows box - in fact I watched this video with it.
to quote (actually paraphrase) Bill Hicks - here is a picture of modern politics in America:
Man #1: I think the puppet on the left shares my views.
Man #2: I think the puppet on the right shares my views.
Man #1 & Man #2: Wai-i-i-i-i-t a minute - they're both being controlled by the same pers....

Should be modded INSIGHTFUL
"Those who desire to give up freedom, in order to gain security, shall not have, nor do they deserve, either one." --Thomas Jefferson (WRONG!)
Hate to nit-pick here - but that's Ben Franklin. Jefferson said more interesting quotes to get you on the FBI watchlists like:
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure." -- Thomas Jefferson
