*buzz* wrong. If you are going to complain about video game violence, you better start on the Motion Picture Industry as well. Oops, you can't, they have that lovely rating system in place to protect young people. Generally parents adhere to these ratings, and do not permit their children to watch PG-13/R rated movies.
Guess what. Above said rating system exists in video gaming as well. A high percentage of games sold are sold to adults purchasing the games for their children. It is up to the parents to decide if such questionable material is appropriate for their children. And don't say that parents do not pay attention to video game ratings. I have to constantly hear my siblings complain about not being able to play Resident Evil, because of the mature rating.
I have also heard rumors that some of the PlayStation 2 games (The next few Final Fantasy episodes) will be purely online games. This is pretty cool in some respects (Everquest is quite sweet), but I don't want to have to tie up the phone line all weekend just to increase my amount of Gil, or pad my experience points. Er, no one calls me anyway. *shrug*
Honestly, how can Metallica legally verify that the alleged copyrighted material is genuine? It is possible to change the name/attributes of a file. Are they aware of this?
If you shoot a man with a blank bullet...can you be incarcerated. The gun is genuine, the blank doesn't exist, and the person you are shooting at doesn't lose any money.
Correct! If he belongs to the Church of Emacs, the government would find him in violation of his probation, therefore freedom of religion does not apply to him either. As a matter of fact, he has no freedom. He is well versed technologically. From my experiences, those in power who do not have a clue about modern technology tend to fear it, and fear those who do have a clue. They see it as a cancer and must remove it. I see this as the Government's first wave of Technochemotherapy.
I agree, Kevin was a bad boy. He served his punishment, and was released. I believe that it was Thomas Jefferson who said that we are entitled to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
1. If computing consumes most of Mr. Mitnick's time...he is being robbed of life.
2. It is quite obvious that his civil liberties have been shamelessly stripped from him.
3. Pursuit of Happiness. It means that we don't have to sit in a cave, eating bats, and being warmed by open fire. We can pursue ventures to improve our lives. A representative democracy does not dictate how we may, and how we may not pursue such ventures.
We should ask Miguel de Icaza about this. Miguel, why are people such bastards to geeks? And did you have anything to do with the I-Opener's pizza key?
No and yes. Geeks are not necessarily the ones to blame for patents. Patents are always registered with the company name (by the money people), rather than that of the individual who coded the questioned app. As for encryption...true geeks came up with that, mostly out of paranoia. Encrypting various keys and other garbage, are preventative measures thought up by the "Money People" to protect future revenue.

Use SSH. 2048. Or quit your job. They don't put debtors in prison anymore.
