  1. Re:Its Simple - Pay CS Majors More on The Continuing American Decline in CS · · Score: 1

I didn't know things were so dismal. I'm a senior CS major at Case and know several graduates that have been getting $60k and $70k / year starting. Is it just your area? It seems in the Cleveland / NE Ohio area that there are plenty of employers that are willing to pay quite well for a good candidate in the CS field.

Has anyone installed this yet? I'm very, very curious of the performance of the video cards under windows with the Apple drivers.

  3. Laptops are distracting on Professor Bans Laptops from the Classroom · · Score: 1

I agree with the professor. As a 2nd year student, I purchased a laptop and brought it to class, thinking I would use it to take notes. For a little while I did take notes, but I quickly fell behind, as I couldn't keep up with the diagrams and whatnot. My GPA went down that semester. The next semester I did not bring my laptop to any class (or just didn't bring it out if I had it), and my understanding of the topics went up, and so did my GPA.

  7. laptop on Laptop vs. Small Desktop: Best Bang Per Watt? · · Score: 5, Informative

I feel that my laptop gives me more bang for my buck. It draws much less power, and I can take it around with me. I like it much more than the cheap pc's we have at work (which would be a low power desktop) but LCD monitors are nice, but the quality of the lcd's on a laptop are just as good.
