Tabs are just another form of MDI, which everyone in their right mind has been running from lately. Why? Because as the OS window management tools get better (Expose, Aero Peek), it makes less sense to reimplement the features. Moreover, UI's designed for "all maximized, all the time" don't play nice with multiple monitors, which are becoming fairly common.
At the very minimum, tabs should be "tear off", and should reveal themselves when using Expose / Aero Peek.
It seems to me markdown (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Markdown) has a much shallower learning curve than latex, and it is already supported by several wiki systems. All you would need was a html -> printed page post-processor, which may already exist.
Putting your vote in a chronological list opens the possibility that someone could find out my vote based on when I went to the booth. Our ballots are SECRET so that we can vote without fear of reprisal.
Come to think about it, I really hope the database entries in these e-vote schemes aren't time stamped!
I never understood why Americans can't just hand count their paper ballots like everyone else in the world. You just need to appoint counters from each party to review the process. There are times when I just don't trust underpaid, caffeine-high code-grinders.

Or almost 8 foot by 3 foot. That would look FANTASTIC above my couch.
