    Not that i am aware of (but then, i onliy started unix 5 years ago...). As far as crappy implmentations, i know of pdksh, which i know is not the same as the real ksh. I don't know of 'fake' kshs out there...

    The other problem, is that he is getting support e-mails from users of OpenSSH - demonstrating clearly that there is a confusion in users minds

    While i can certainly understand that, i'm not sure we should be using laws to try and fix peoples' utter stupidity...

    Maybe we should be teaching people to pay more attention (which would help the driving situation out!), and read things carefully (like those nice long contracts...)

    My only problem with this is that he obviously took a standard unix naming convention and is trying to claim trademark.

    sh = shell
    bash = Borne Again shell
    ksh = Korn Shell
    rsh = Remove Shell (hmm...no that couldn't have inspired it..)
    ssh = secure shell.

    sh is simply unix shorthand for sh, and the few letters before it designate what kind of shell (borne, korn, remove, secure).

    Keep in mind that there is no law saying "you can't produce these games", just restricted advertising wouldn't make it worth the company's while to create them.

    The end result is the same; censorship. It doesn't matter how you try to get around it, thats what it will be.

    And this is a bad thing? I don't think so. But then I can't stand either Quake or Half-Life nor any of their clones so I won't be sheding any tears over their quite hopeful demise.

    Well alot of people do. Should the new policy be 'band whatever C.Lee doesn't like'? If you can't support even speech you don't like, i don't think you get the idea behind that concept..

    BTW - Nintendo kinda nixed that no blood crap. When MK3 (or was it 2) came out, the SNES version had all the nice blood and guts. Of course i don't know if they went back to their old ways; haven't played a NES system for years..

    game companies are rushing to produce the most bloody and violent games that they possibly can without any concern for the young lives that they are polluting.

    Get off your ass and do some parenting...

    The only kids that become deranged from video games are the ones whose parents don't pay any attention to them, and don't teach them the difference between fantasy and reality. But its ok, just ignore the MILLIONS of kids that play quake and don't go on killing sprees inspired by it...

    Excuse me? What kind of assault would that be? Assault usually involved some kind of contact or attack. And it certainly does matter if the gun was real or not. If its fake, there obviously is no intent of harm even.

    That anything you signed that made you an employee would be void after you left. I mean, the contract is a contract for employment, so if you are no longer employed with them it wouldn't have any teeth at all.

    It would seem fishy for a company to be able to say 'you may only work for us a finite time, but you will forever be bound by this employment contract.'

    No i think if they really looked into it and found out just what StarCraft was, they wouldn't have even left the office. If they saw the web page, they have access to the internet, and could have easily searched for starcraft on google or something. If they still weren't sure, they could have questioned them...but bringing them in and confiscating the computer is going to far. That was too much of an overreaction.

    To you and I this web-site is just a StarCraft website, but to non-techies it has a lot of features that would make them nervous.

    Ya well maybe if the nontechies actually took the time to look into things they'd find they have nothing to fear. Or is that asking too much?

    I don't find metal math all that helpful; as long as you can still do it with pen and paper or a calculator, you should be fine. Its not like you read the problem to the calculator, you use it to do the smaller stuff to help reduce mistakes (well, hopefully).

    I thought that they said we remember every detail of every minute of our lives perfectly; but trying to recall it on demand is the challenge. So, perhaps we do have infinite memory (or, at least way more then we can fill...we do only use 10% of our brains, anyway. Well some of you do at least :) )

    I speed but i also drive responsibly. That is, i dont tailgate, cut people off, fly across lanes etc etc. I also don't floor it and try to go as fast as possible either.

    Police officers are rational human beings(usually). Exceeding the speed limit may be necesarry in some cases to prevent an accident, and you would probably not be ticketed for doing it.

    I must have been very unlucky then; i've never met a ration police officer. It was obvious they wante to ticket me. I got a ticket for going through YELLOW light for gods sake. But the copy sees yellow as red so i got ticketed.

    I wish speeding would stop equaling recklessness. It is possible to go faster then the posted limit WITHOUT being an ass to everyone. I've seen plenty of people driving slowing being assholes, and even with it snowing out!
