MSM - at least the larger newspapers and TV stations have very strict policies about gifts. Usually they are accepted, but then auctioned to employees with funds donated. (Because you can't always return the gift.) (Even some discussion about the ethics of accepting food in the press box at sporting events.) MSM does care about appearances of unethical behavior. Seems most bloggers don't.
