In Canada and the US LG usually offers 1 year warranty on the burners and the cd-roms so if you are in the one year period you can go back to the place you bought it and get it replaced or at least they will send it back to LG for you.
I work in a retail store and we sell at least 100 LG burners and 150 LG cd-roms every week and we probably get 1 or 2 returns a month. I really can't say anything bad about them.
