Typically I have found that they make you "call" in so that they can upsell you on an add-on product... extra battery, etc. So in the end the "low low price" is not so low.
MS is such an absurdly large company, I don't know why the hell they can't have a 'drivers' division.
That was the whole point to windows. They pushed the drivers back onto the hardware vendors. That is how Microsoft was able to reduce their testing configurations.
Back in the early days of MSDN I recall there being a program for the hardware people to actually go to Microsoft and test out the hardware prior to releases. Don't know if that is still the case. The issue is that the hardware testing is a serious black hole of $$. In windows 2.x - 3.x days I was involved in writing a driver for a plotter. My company did not produce the plotter by the way, however our software was pretty useless with out a plotter. The constant issue I had was is it Microsoft's problem or the hardware vendor's.
If you forged one of your "sent" emails then in the discovery materials you would not be able to find the matching email. I agree with you. It is a complete mess....
That is the one of the points to discovery. You provide the documents to the other party, so it would be from one of your "sent" emails. The received emails are still up for grabs though.
I have had the mispleasure of using those bubble ballots and they did not work out very well. There was a very long line of voters waiting to put the ballots through the readers. They did not read the first time, or second time.
The point I was trying to make is that people make the difference. Papaer ballots will not solve the problem that the machines were not delivered to the polling place on time.
My point was that people were the failure as much as the machines. During the training on the new machines, they were not allowed to touch them, let alone set them up. Who ever packed up the machines after testing failed to pack them up correctly (the memory cards were all found together with a printer) The person with the keys to the building failed to show up on time... people failed to report to the polling place to work on time... No one tried the phone to see if it was working until after the person left with the keys to the building...
True it is easy to be accused of technology abuse, but lets address the root cause of the issue and not blame technology. It is a little hard to blame the machine that it was never delivered to polling place (The cause of other polling places opening very late)
I arrived at 0655 at my polling place to find that the voting and registration machines were just being
unpacked. I was the third person in line. They were having problems
finding all of the parts to the registration machines(missing the memory cards).
At 0715 the first voting machine was ready but the registration machines
still being assembled.
At 0725 they attempted to register the first person. They were able to get
the voting card coded however the printer did not function.
They finally got a second registration machine working at 0745 and I was the
first person able to vote. The first person registered still was not able
to vote since they had not been able to print out his receipt. The second
person along with many others had given up and left. I stopped counting at
20 and that was close to 0715.
People who gave up waiting asked repeatedly about casting a provisional ballet
and were first told yes, then later told no. The no won. Many of those who gave up
around 0730 said that they would not be able to vote at all.
When I left they only had one of the three registration machines working.
Many voters went outside and called the election board to complain. The one person
in charge of the machines ended up using a pay
phone to call the election officials to try to figure out what was going on.
The bottom line is that the reasons behind the failures were lack of training, the person
who opened the school was late, they were understaffed(grumblings about budget cuts) and to top it off, no cell phone coverage, nor a land line available
with in reach of the registration machines(They had to use a pay phone out in the hallway).
Last time I checked I wasn't "paying" google anything for gmail... unless you want to count the marketing information they are gleeming from my email, IM and searchs...
Improving the speed of printing is a good thing. However having owned many photo printers over the years... each time I seem to switch between Epson and HP. The problem with incorporating the print head into the printer is that when it gets clogged, the entire printer has to be serviced. Much easier to simply throw away the offending print cartridge than to get it serviced...
