I love your cheerleading everybody else to donate, while claiming you can't because you don't have the money. I doubt if you had a JOB, or earned your own money, you would be so eager to spend othe peoples' money.

Until then, you're no better than the rest of the us here.

Maybe these guys should have better made a better plan for funding themselves before the shit hit the fan.

To me, this looks like rank incompetence, where they're begging for money after everything crashes and then they realize they need more hardware.

I'm sure this project has noble and honorable goals, but just because that is so doesn't mean it deserves anything.

The people who question this begging probably have real jobs, real bills, and understand the value of every dollar they make and spend.

The wiki philisophy needs some serious work if it couldn't figure out how to pay the bills than just passing the hat around. In the long term, that doesn't get very far.

Sorry, but just because some noble project is in trouble, all the slashdotters should empty their wallets to save their ass?

I found wikipedia had very limited use for me. Information on the very simple subjects was adequate, but most the writing was horribly amateurish and painfully biased. A decent quality encyclopedia is really not too much to pay for, like this.

It's party of life, some things succeed and some things fail. wikipedia is one of those ideas that should be left to die, unless it can turn out a way to sustain itself financially. Asking for handouts is only delaying the inevitable.

Anyone recognize the niche as that of Cobalt, before Sun took them over? Did those do well enough that this can be popular?

Unfortunately, as an operator of a Cobalt RaQ for many years, I found it to be very limiting once we did figure out how to really use it and how little the custom interfaces allowed, but it was great for people who just wouldn't learn that stuff.

I hope no one thinks these are patch-proof though,. Our Cobalt needed patches and even with them had trouble avoiding a few compromises since patches were so delayed. Now it runs Debian and I couldn't be happier with the little box.

Offering free previews (perhaps in reduced quality, but watchable) and an easy option to follow up with a DVD purchase may be the way to go.

That option, though not free(TINSTAAFL) has been here for over 20 years. It's called rentals. You know, blockbuster, netflix, etc.??

Stealing is stealing, even if you "delete" them later. You've already obtained something that you have paid for.

How is this 'pie-in-the-sky' thinking insightful?

What problem could we have solved that would have prevented Osama Bin Laden being a terrorist?

9/11 didn't occur because of something we did, it happened simply because of what we were. A successful, free, secular society.

The idea that terrorism ultimately is our own fault is ludicrous. How did we 'create' multimillionaire financing educated college graduates to hijack planes and crash them into buildings?

This War on Terror can be won and will be by acting decisively and crushing them all.

That's so disingenuous. If the anti-war people had their way, this wouldn't have happened at all.

Wrong. We did have international support. Just because it wasn't suppport from the countries you liked doesn't mean it didn't exist. Britain, Spain, Australia were certainly part of the coalition.

The administration is going to spin this as a wonderful thing for Americans and a sure sign that the administration is tough on terrorists.

Maybe because it is. And for Iraqis too. It's the war on Iraq that was started many years ago by the father and now reengaged by the son.

I believe that Saddam was the one who started it by invading Kuwait.

Iraqi citizens may rejoice, but there is no reason for us to do the same.

How shortsighted that is. We've accomplished something that no doubt has made the world just a little better. The entire record of Saddam is still coming out, the fact that we ended him is going to be one of the biggest stories in the modern history.

This is yet another example of how deranged the Bush-haters are. When the economy is now growing again, and we're making real progress in Iraq, the ones who seem to really hate it are the lefties.

When Saddam's sons were killed, the ones who seem to be the most disappointed were the Democrats.

Now, one of the worst dictators in history is captured alive, and all they can think about is that it is going to help Bush politically. It's ignored that this is a great day for Iraqis and the world. The hatred for Bush seems to blind them from seeing past anything else.

Different cultures and societies have varying degrees of what is considered acceptable. SNK just seems to take the cautious route here. If you want to say that they're being prudes that's onte thing. It's really not much that's being edited. To say that it's CENSORSHIP is a little harsh and loses all perspective of what real censorship is.
