  1. iWallet? on Speculation About An Apple Tablet · · Score: 2, Funny

Notice that an innovation that I doubt will ever come out is the iWallet, simply because it will always be empty. Thanks Apple!

  2. Canadian Content on SpaceShipOne and Wild Fire to Go For the Gold · · Score: 4, Funny

Glad to see that there's some Canadian content! Hope it doesn't turn into another Avro Arrow...

  3. In Nicaragua... on Manure-Powered Generators On The Rise · · Score: 2, Insightful
While in Nicaragua a year ago, I saw this method of fuel production being used. However, the farm went beyond just the re-use of the methane gas - EVERYTHING on the farm fed something else. The farm was an incredibly balanced eco-system.

They had the goats in a pen elevated off the ground so that they could collect their waste and fertilize stuff with it. Leaves that had fallen off plants were turned into windbreakers. There was even a little symbiotic relationship thing going on between the banana plants and a smaller shrub. EVERYTHING was linked into each other, and according to the farmers there, this kind of farm produced a lot more than the typical kind they've got there, and it requires less work. Now THAT'S engineering.

  4. Keeping the quiet on A Silent PC Solution? · · Score: 1

You mean when it's plugged in and stuff right? I had this one machine with an experimental power supply involving mice on a wheel that I couldn't muffle for the longest time ... till I learned how NOT to use heatsinks.

  5. Pen and Paper on What Kind of Tablet PC to Buy? · · Score: 1

This is a "me too" post - I find that a laptop really isn't necessary during my stay at university. Besides, if you have a less-than-stellar work ethic, having your machine relatively grounded means that by simply going somewhere else, you're more likely to be more productive, due to you not screwing around on the computer mindlessly. Honestly, ask yourself what you're going to be using this machine for; my guess is that it'll include programming, web browsing and some word processing (along with peripheral tasks like listening to music and gaming). Note taking on a laptop blows, and it pisses the people off around you because they have to accomodate your annoying clicking and typing. Additionally, a pad of paper crashes much less often than a word processor (you may not think this is so important, but just wait till it happens to you right at the end of a long lecture).
