  1. Re:Could happen to you on Online Search Engines Lift Cover Of Privacy · · Score: 2, Informative

Google does retain information on search queries in some form. If you go and check the Google Zeitgeist (Weekly Version & the Annual Version) they have statistics on most searched terms, time graphs showing, for example the spike in search queries after the California Quake, and lots of other interesting information.

For the week ending February 2, the top search terms in the US were:

    1. janet jackson
    2. superbowl halftime
    3. mtv
    4. justin timberlake
    5. tom brady
    6. groundhog day
    7. cbs
    8. oscar nominations
    9. kazuhito tadano
    10. john kerry
  2. A possible base on the moon as well on Bush To Announce Manned Trip To Moon, Mars · · Score: 1

The BBC is also running the story, but they say that Bush will also announce plans for a permenant base on the moon as a sort of testing ground for flights to Mars. CNN is running the same story, but where the BBC says "The manned mission to Mars.. is not expected for at least 10 years," CNN is reporting that we will not get to the moon until 2018. We can therefore safely say that although all this sounds great... I'm sure there will be some sort of mineral on either the moon or Mars or both which is commercially viable for extraction to earth, and this will mean "more exchanges of technology between Nasa and the Pentagon"... it is pretty much just a campaigning stunt, and even if things do go through we probably won't be on Mars for 20 years at the earliest.

  3. Re:One book to tell it all... on A Return Of The King Review · · Score: 2, Informative

Well, you are kind-of right... "The Lord of the Rings is often erroneously called a trilogy, when it is in fact a single novel, consisting of six books plus appendices, sometimes published in three volumes." (article). See the fact is, publishers knew that no one would buy a 1500 page book (making it what... $20 in paperback and probably $70 in hardcover) so they took the six books and split them over three novels and slapped the apendices on the end. In fact if you go to book stores even now that the series is emensly popular you will find that for the most part the books are sold in the three novel format with *maybe* a boxed set in the 6+1 format and a nice hardback big-ass book.

  4. More information on the pigeons on Pigeons Faster than Internet · · Score: 1

I don't think this has been posted, but there is a picture of one of the pigeons on the Waitomo Adventures Website as well as some more information... like what happens if the pigeon doesn't come back... well you either get a free t-shirt or if the pigeon ever comes back they'll send you your pics. I think it's a pretty good idea, as it gets the job done, and the charge for the photos covers the "overhead" (pigeon feed, coops, new pigeons, etc.)
