Actually, we are asking participating companies to agree to transfer control of their domain if and only if they shut down the service, but not necessarily transfer ownership of the domain. We are also aware that we may have circumstances where a company is shutting down a service and may subsequently transfer ownership of the domain to another group, for other (non-URL shortening purposes). In such a case, automatic redirection won't work, and those who have short URLs would have to request the mapped long URL manually.
