  1. Re:Hrm... on New Calendar Proposal · · Score: 1

Yup. A nice example of why a well defined event doesn't work in practice. If the bishop of Constantinople or Dublin needs to disagree with the pope, you try proving what a full moon means. The gregorian (Claudius Clavius) algorithm is ok, to withing a day or so. It took about 1200 years to develop. Does anyone know a program (free source, or an algorithm) to calculate the full moon. Google doesn't help.

In the army, if you are ahead of everyone else, you are charging the machine guns when the others are still in their foxholes.

  3. I blame Linux on No More Leap Second? · · Score: 1

If you shift mass from the mid latitutes to penguin country, the earth speeds up. Software = orderliness = Gibbs Free Energy = a tiny bit of mass. So the only way we can get leap seconds back is for Windows not only to bloat, but to give value for bloat. Otherwise, we may have to have a negative leap second. Is there a word for this? Say, a pael second.

  4. Re:from a recent study i conducted... on New Zealand Shows Music Piracy Boosts Sales · · Score: 1

Nice to see facts (or at least statements based on claims of gathered facts, which is a positive step.) As a non pirate, but father of Kiwi kids who do copy (not download) CDs, I see them buy CDs co-operatively and then swap copies. Net observed effect is an increase CD buying. What interests me is that this is female activity: it is juvenile co-operation, prior to having earnings. Any R&D on whether there is a gender difference in the activity?
