If I set up a security company in Bhutan, I'll instantly be one of the leading security companies (in Bhutan).

I take your point but I think there is a distinct difference between Bhutan and Russia in this sense. Also you may consider that you did hear about Kaspersky and the main difference between these guys used to be that Kaspersky is better at PR and marketing.

I guess there is a difference between knowing a public email address and being on speaking terms with the people behind the address.

Dr. Web is one of the leading security companies (at least in Russia) and they've been around since 1992. They are by no means 'nagware' or 'junk scanner' - they tools are legitimate, powerful and useful

No no wants to spend a week in an elevator even if it means you get to go into orbit. Christ I can barely make it to the 15th floor without some jackass farting. A whole week. Don't think so.

To get from Vladivostok to Moscow on the train you would need 9 days. It used to take a couple of weeks or more. One train carriage carry approximately 30 people and the either share cabins with 3 other travellers or the whole carriage is one big cabin. People used to travel this way all the time before flying started to be an option. I suppose with our iPads etc the journey will be even less difficult

  5. SnapKeys iPhone/iPad support? on Timothy Lord Checks Out Keyboards & Tech At CES · · Score: 1

Cannot see how they are going to support iOS devices - the demo clearly shows some custom app which is worthless. I still have to see any kind of custom keyboard (outside of Cydia) for iOS, which is a shame because Swype or SlideIt keyboards would really be great

  6. Re:and why do you have to pay for stuff that is FR on MS Details Last.fm on Xbox Live, Marketplace Changes · · Score: 1

Last.fm is NOT free. Last.fm is 3 GBP per month, no discounts for longer subscriptions. Sure you could use some of it functionality free-of-charge but the best bits (loved tracks, playlists) require payment (http://www.last.fm/subscribe)

I thought Java WAS a standard, but many pages with a Java plugin for log-on will just not work

Get a Sun JVM. If it will not work too then I believe the problem is not related to MS at all but to the bad quality of coding.

What about MS InfoPath? It's damn well innovative.

I can't use all of the features in Office 200 yet....
And that does not mean that these features are useless or redundant. It's not MS who should be blamed for the fact that you don't want to raise your productivity with the Office suit by reading some manuals or going to a training. I definitely benefit from the Office 2003 new features such as WSS integration, Research and Translate panels etc, not to mention powerful InfoPath tool (which is indispensable in the Biztalk combo). I definitely benefit from the upgrade of the Outlook (Outlook 2003 is the best and most mature mail client I saw). As the developer I benefit from the extended XML support and .NET programmability. If somebody is programming on the C++ without objects it's his fault. If he tries to use ASP.NET as an upgrade to the ASP - it's because of his rigidness and not the evil schemes of the bad guys from MS.
  10. I liked it, actually on Real Launches New Player, Music Store · · Score: 1

I just downloaded and installed RealPlayer10Beta.exe (the only version available for download from Real)
It's really a vast improvement for the RealPlayer family. Yep, it's still bloated all-in-one solution but surely more slick and nice-looking one.
And it's really not as annoying in terms of advertisment etc.
So everything guys from Real said is true - very nice change!
