I would agree with this SORT OF.....really the solution that was less tied up in GREED won, Sony wouldnt let loose of the patent till it was too late, Beta is of course MUCH higher quality, major news crews still use beta for reporting what bozo hez blew up a quickie mart in isreal. Never underestimate greed in the decisions to secure a format.

Now if someone said they were going to fly around the world on NATURAL GAS, or Cow Shit, that would be cool. Seriously, a LNG plane would be cool, and there are a lot of reasons to do it, but SOLAR is NOT going to be powering any transport planes in the near future.
AND its not like they are tryinh to exploit a new avenue of solar energy conversion, same old technology thats been around for 50 years.
THEN again its not like there was much use in cirumnavgating the globe in a balloon.....

You talk like the current IIS is somehow lacking ?
IIS Maybe fruits of the devil but is damm good stuff, it will handle some SERIOUS traffic and matched with load balancing and failover makes a serious Web Server.
If IIS was lacking something Apache now had that it didnt Ok, but it dosent it has an easily extensible ISAPI framework, runs damm near everythin that apache can of importance, PHP, PERL, Python, and it free (as in sell your soul for the server software)
Granted it hass taken MS quite a while to bring IIS up to its current level , and thats EXACTLY why the wont abandon it.
