  1. People are still using CVS? on OpenBSD Project Will Release OpenCVS · · Score: 1
    Even Linus doesn't use it.

IMHO there are much better alternatives out there. I use Subversion at home and Perforce (definitely worth the cost) at work and I'll never go back. Source control without atomic commits really isn't much control at all...

  2. Scary on S. Korea Claims N. Korea Has Trained 600 Crackers · · Score: 3, Interesting

This is an incredibly interesting avenue. If an 18-year-old script kiddie could write MSBLASTER, just imagine what 600 of North Korea's best could do. I guess this could be considered a miniature version of our NSA, all be it controlled by the world's worst dictator. I think this calls for the US to get serious about consumer electronic security, mandating smart cards for online banking etc. Let's not make it easy for them...

  3. Piracy on EC Approves Unconditionally Sony-BMG Merger · · Score: 2, Interesting
"Just when you thought the music industry couldn't get any worse, Sony and BMG are merging. Now there will only be 4 major labels, and they estimate that 2000 jobs (25% of combined workforce) will be cut."

I sure do love how Slashdot always wants it both ways. To all the people that download mp3s this is your fault. Now it will be harder for new artists to get signed and the variety of music will suffer. I hope you all like mainstreet crap that ClearChannel plays. Thanks!

  4. Re:Here's all he actually says on Open-Source Software and "The Luxury of Ignorance" · · Score: 2, Funny
Saved pulling the computer out from under desk as I accidently used the wrong hole (found it by feel) then I knew what I'd done wrong.

Next time try putting some hair on it, that always helps me find the right one...
