IE is an old browser, which means that it doesn't support the newest standards on the web like complex CSS Structures, full support for DIV Layouts or even PNG Transparency.
Firefox supports all the newest standards, but they still got some problems managing complex DIVs and Rich Content Media applications like Flash or Shockwave.
As a web designer i can tell you that it won't matter if you stick to the standards or not, some websites just can't be rendered properly on some browsers. It's either one or the other, and for the moment (unfortunatelly), IE still has the largest marketshare.
SecurityFocus have this down as a "Design Error". Is that in the design of the implementation, or the design of the protocol? Can we start blaming Microsoft for bugs in Linux now?
As we all know, Windows is a closed-source operating system, which offers documentation for all their apps and apis. The SMB Filesystem had to be developed without seeing the source code of the original fs. Remember, this is an emulation which means that it's normal to have this kinds of flaws.
I've worked as a tech support agent (on the phone) for over 4 years now and one thing i figured out is that people is not STUPID. They are COMPUTER IGNORANTS which is very different, believe me, once you teach them how to do something they'll never forget (unless it's a really complicated thing for them like changing TCP/IP settings).
What firefox needs is a new name like "Firefox Internet Navigator" and to execute a tutorial on how to use it on the first run.
