Asterisk has a VERY easy interface to grok a VOIP PBX
AMD's chips also have random number generators, but they don't go into too much detail on how they are generated. I'd assume randomly, but that's just a guess.
Although this is a novel idea, it is an engineering disaster. 9v batteries in series/parallel with AA batteries is VERY unsafe. A simple LM317 regulator with 4 9V batteries, 2 in series & 2 in parallel would be a novel external supply.

I have heard horror stories about the reliability of the smaller LaCie drives. A friend of mine is on #3 in less than a year of a 500gb drive.
