  1. Re:A response in the defence of XHTML on Rewrites Considered Harmful? · · Score: 1

I agree with this reply, and would also add that if the author of the article wants to write HTML without thinking, he should use Frontpage instead of notepad. It generates "good enough" (lol!) HTML code for you, doesn't it? (Well, by looking at the look of the article, I would say yes)

The web today needs XML/CSS/XSL/XHTML. As soon as you have a website that is a little much more than a "Welcome/Photos of my dog/Linkz/Email-me" wannabe website, simple HTML becomes hardly maintainable (What if you want to change all your titles from blue to red? no CSS? a nightmare.).

Imagine if everybody would say: "Hey, why do we keep redesigning computers? This one is 'good enough'!". We would still be in front of an apple II. All website would be dull home page with photos of the guy and his family. slashdot wouldnt exist. In fact, with the "good enough" mentality, we would probably be on a BBS, writing "Oh dammit! I'm so glad. We have a BBS that has absolutely zero bugs, very stable, handles all requests fast. That is definately good enough."
