Extremely true! Add to the fact that people pay stupid high prices for an inferior and literally (its a fact Starbucks openly admits and boasts about - so as to ensure the same burned flavor at all their stores) burned product makes it all the more stupid.
People who proudly shop Starbucks are the same people who boast they ride the short bus and that their helmet is pink and brown.
Classic slashdot. Translation: I'm too ignorant and lazy to be bothered to learn for my self. But sitting with my thumb up my ass and pretending I'm smart while ignorantly taking swipes at the world around me is so much more satisfying and easy. After all, you can't be lazy and learn. How dare you.
Is it really asking too much for you to get off your ass and learn about the world around you - or worse, extremely well documented history? I know, what a cocksucker I am. The nerve.
Only in your imagination - not in the real world. In fact, its pretty easy to argue we've taken a massive step backwards. Letting the terrorist win is in now way proof we've even considered taking a step forward, let alone an indication we've successfully done so.
But the thing is, people groping children is utterly senseless and, to many people, disgusting.
Actually, its not. Your response is extremely unintelligent, irrational, and completely predicated on the principal that everyone in the world has extremely high standards and of good morale character. Which on its face is nothing but completely idiocy, stupidity, and anything number of things, but certainly not intelligent. For example, its well documented history children were commonly used during prohibition. So factually speaking, there is absolutely nothing reasonable about your position. Factually speaking, its complete bullshit.
The reality (that's the real world we all live in), people have been caught doing all sorts of things with children (and I don't mean sexually or even creepy), including transporting illegal, controlled, or otherwise prohibited goods. So unless you have any evidence these children are the least bit harmed by touch (which in fact all evidence proves they are not and that its actually beneficial), arguments on the basis of, "buts its children" and therefore offensive is disgusting, unintelligent, vulgar, and offensive that so many stupid people are somehow being irrationally "validated." In fact, evidence to day from child studies clearly show any and all harm inflicted on the child from these types of events completely originates from the parents in how the event is communicated to the child. Meaning, if the parent projects the event as a fearful, harmful event, the child perceives it as such. Which means, the parent is the sole source of harm here.
If you want to get upset, the ONLY basis you have to do so is that security theater, on which we waste massive tax dollars, is permitted. The fact that molestation is legalized by some moron who qualified by tying their shoes is permitted to molest the general public is and should be the sole source of outrage. If any of your are the least bit okay with that and yet offended that an equal standard is being applied, then we have absolute proof you are an absolute idiot.
I can assure you, you are wrong. After all, people who don't do professional image work and do nothing but talk out their ass all day long have consistently told us GIMP can't do professional image work. Accordingly, its only reasonable you should ignore any and all professionals who do you GIMP for their work. Of course, there is the other side too, of ignorant elitists who insist the sky is whatever color Photoshop says it is and that color can only ever be perceived through Photoshop.
I'm really tired of morons telling us GIMP can't be used for professional image work. The reality is, people who say that are complete idiots. My father does professional image work too. He even has a copy of Photoshop. He continues to use GIMP. That's not to say he doesn't want to move to Photoshop, but for now remains with what he knows. The simple truth is, the ONLY reason he wants to move to Photoshop is because of its prevalence. You can't blame him, there are advantages to using popular tools. And of course, it doesn't help that so many morons constantly parrot GIMP is unusable despite the fact that many continue to use GIMP on a daily basis. Its a source of frustration people who don't carry a GIMP or opensource flag just don't care to wave.
The myth (if not out right lie) is that professional image work is this one narrow field. That's completely untrue. The reality is, professional imagery is actually fairly diverse. Its true that GIMP is unsatisfactory for some in the field. Its also true GIMP is overkill for others. And of course, there is a large intersection between the two (GIMP and Photoshop) in which either can make a good showing.
At the end of the day, you have a small, small subset of people who actually require Photoshop. A large number of idiots and morons who ignorantly insist only Photoshop can work for them. A large number of people who use Photoshop because its popular and they ignorantly don't know any better. A small subset of people who use Photoshop because of the community. So on and so on... The reality is, GIMP is perfectly acceptable for a large number of Photoshop users.
like "shou ji" (cellphone) to "hand" and "machine".
What does that matter in context? Doesn't sound like it matters at all. If the computer infers "hand machine" to mean signal and cause an action, what does it matter if, "cellphone", is technically more accurate for you and me? AFAICT, it doesn't matter one bit.
So this genius at RIM is so much in denial that he doesn't get that Apple is cutting away at RIM while Android and iOS are raping RIM because he doesn't understand the market anymore.
Sadly, this type of yesterday thinking permeates most of Fortune 1000 and is what most CEOs aspire to. To be a good CEO today, you need to be able to lie, talk bullshit, and have a two week plan. Period. And oh ya, be on the board of your friend so you can continue to vote for ever higher and completely unjustified salaries and benefits.
Seriously, most CEO's have a plan for tomorrow and maybe the next product release. That's it. If they have a one year plan or hell, even a two or three year plan, its a complete farce and a joke. They have it because its deemed a requirement to have for stock holders, not because they actually believe it or intend to follow it.
American CEOs have been shorting the shit out of the entire country for decades now. Its SOP. Its why so much manufacturing has left the country. In in part why American is sliding from prominence all the while the pay divide has never been larger.
Pragmatically, with no hyperbole, most CEOs should be fired - and justifiably so. Realistically, they get bonuses and higher salaries while destroying the economy around them and anything else if the next guy's problem because their sole job is to short the company, you and me, to day.
I absolutely do not believe they are perfect. I know of no one who is perfect. The fact this is your spin on this speaks pretty loudly. I encourage you to read some of their writings. Now go read what some of their contemporaries have to say. If you believe many of their temporaries don't sound like retarded children, you've not done nearly enough reading. You'll also need to keep in mind, many of our Founding Fathers were literal renaissance men of their day who understood tyranny all too well. Hell, many of those guys actually created much of our economy. I would hazard a guess than less than 1% of Americans today actually KNOW tyranny. Even for me its just an abhorrent, abstract ideology. And a tiny fraction of 1% actually understand the most basic workings of our economy.
Just because they were wise men who actually lived what the fuck they are talking about doesn't suddenly elevate them to demigod status. Having said that, you'd have to be a complete fucking idiot to ignore what has proven time and time again to be very wise and sage knowledge from men who actually did live life and experience a large portion of the worst humanity has to offer.
As opposed to simply forgetting that pesky, "Well Regulated Militia" clause.
As for this, you completely proved by point. You took it out of context and completely ignoring the portion which addresses that. Nice way to prove you're either completely ignorant or have your own agenda to push.
I know exactly what you're talking about but its not really applicable. MS also owes millions in state roads taxes too - on roads which is only used by Microsoft. Having said that, your comment is a red herring and not the least bit applicable.
So normal retail sources dont have transportation costs or generate jobs?
Nice troll. You said that, I didn't. Normal retails have these same costs PLUS MORE. Easy concept. Widely understood. The fact you don't understand this while trying to shovel words into my mouth basically says it all.
I agree with your points, but its frequently lost that they are well documented as to the spirit beyond these words. Its fact, sadly, most judges go out of their way to ignore the spirit and intention of their words so as to allow them to create law from the bench. The sad truth is, the spirit and intent is pretty clear for anyone who wants to look. And contrary to our Founding Father's wishes, most states have one or more completely unconstitutional laws on the books - especially when it comes to the second amendment.
but some of the Founding Fathers were slave owners. They were not necessarily the most in tune with human rights.
You do understand that those concepts are not necessarily diametrically opposed concepts. You do understand slavery was a far more complex situation then is common taught. This is in no way saying I support slavery, only that your point isn't necessarily valid.
Perhaps we want to clarify gun rights.
Anyone who thinks gun rights need clarification have been brainwashed. Gun rights are very clear. Few states actually uphold the rights which most pre-teens can easily comprehend. The problem here isn't the Constitution, its the lying morons who make every effort to pervert our rights and the US Constitution because it better serves their selfish needs rather than the bulk of the population.
instead of having a non-elected Supreme Court cobble that together.
This is what constitutional amendments are for. If they can't figure out how to create and pass an amendment, I guarantee they'll completely fuck up a re-write of the US Constitution.
But it's not stupid enough to dismiss out of hand.
Actually it is.
If we had another shot at drafting a Constitution, we might be able to do a better job than the Founding Fathers did.
The one thing I've learned is, people who argue our Founding Fathers didn't understand or completely missed something when they created the US Constitution, are either completely ignorant of the subject at hand or have an agenda which is contrary to the best interest of the American people.
If you do much reading about our Founding Fathers, you'll find many of them have an inexplicable wisdom which largely hasn't been seen since. Many (most) of the things they are on record are equally applicable today as they were then. IMOHO, the biggest problem with the US Constitution is that far more ignorant, uninformed, who are completely out of touch with the US Constitution and laws in general, have a voice. The movie Idiocracy is farce, social commentary, and a foreshadowing.
I actually like Fareed Zakaria. He frequently has an interesting take on things. In the least, he can frequently get you to re-examine so basic assumptions. There's nothing wrong with that even if you don't agree with him commentary. But, sometimes he's spot on. Sometimes he misses by a mile. In this case, he is completely wrong, having missed it by several light years. It might well be one of the dumbest things he's ever said on record. The US absolutely does not need a new Constitution. There is not the slightest hint this is true. What we need is better government and history classes. We need better education on the rights and protections afforded by the US Constitution. And if need be, we need some amendments. We need more judges who can actually read and understand the US Constitution; its literally scary how many clearly don't understand this purposely, extremely easy to read document. Frankly, the US Constitution is both powerful and flexible. If you can't amend it to afford the protections required, you're probably a tyrant.
Basically, time and time again, people blame the US Constitution when in fact, its judges, politics (including bribes), and mass ignorance which is to blame. I'll also point out, frequently there is a large intersection between the three.
...but states are already collecting taxes on etailer sales. They pay those taxes on transportation costs. These places also generate jobs. Those people buy things which also allow for taxation.
States are just pissed that their double dipping means they might actually have to be good at their job to remain in office because balancing a budget becomes more important. Whereas the traditional school of thought is you're elected to funnel state and federal dollars to your buddies - or to declare eminent domain for an illegal land grab which is then promptly gifted to your buddies. And if you can't distract people with the slush funds lying around, how are they supposed to get away with crime as usual?
I mean, no crime, forced to actually do your job within a reasonable budget? What is this world coming to?
You notice a major difference between an SSD and a HDD.
I completely agreed. Most report total drive failure in 6-18 months with SSD drives with absolutely no warning of impending catastrophic failure. So ask yourself, are you ready for complete data loss every 6-18 month, while paying an extreme premium for the privileged? Most recommend NOT using these as your primary device, but rather use a smart caching device, which uses these devices as an accelerator while still using the HDD as your primary, dramatically more reliable, long term storage medium. Of course, in either case, a sane, complimentary backup strategy should employed.
So this will help encourage the US to be a bit more serious about space stuff.
No it won't!!!!!!!
Here's a reality check. The US space race was a complete farce; top to bottom.
The US could have beaten Sputnik into orbit but wanted to allow the Russians to establish an international precedence on space overflights. Their plan worked perfectly except for the unexpected public backlash. This is important because the US was already developing manned spy satellites so as to observe the Russian's nuclear deployments and development. Basically what kicked off the space race was the nuclear arms race. At the time, weaponization of space was still on the table.
Next came the development of long range ICBMs. They needed a cover to justify their massive spending. This is where the moon shots came in. It was all a ploy to develop long range, reliable, MIRV warhead delivery mechanism, to target anywhere in the world. This is what fueled the arms race. The ignorant like to pretend this was about getting men on the moon. Realistically, it was about delivering massive nuclear payloads so as to level the world's largest cities. Getting men on the moon was just a footnote which allowed for international bragging rights.
For China, this is absolutely no different. Showing orbital launch prowess is really about flexing nuclear delivery capabilities. Space really only has a handful of things to offer; like communications, accurate time and location, spying, modest research, and nuclear weapons delivery. Everything else, for now, is fanboyism, elitism, and bragging rights.
So ask yourself, given that the US already has all of its check boxes checked, aside from a cold war, which is the only likely box to become checked from China's progress? Here's a hint, and it has nothing to do with civilian space exploration - unless of course they can hide their military agenda with civilian clothing.
If a VM like Dalvik can't run actual Java bytecode, is it a Java VM?
No. Absolutely not. Dalvik is a completely different technology. Dalvik specifically does many, many things completely differently so as to avoid many of Java's (including ME's) failings. Google made many innovations with Dalvik specifically because they are targeting a mobile platform. Java targets servers and desktops; whereby a mobile platform was only an after thought. Furthermore, many other the patents which Oracle is claiming are so obvious and generalized, there isn't a VM around to which Oracle's claims need not apply; meaning they are invalid and should have never been granted.
In a nutshell, anyone who says Dalvik is like the JVM is making clear they are an absolutely fucking idiot. Is it possible Dalvik is violating an Oracle patent? Yes. Is it more likely those same patents should have never been filed let alone granted? Absolutely! Is it more likely Oracle's case is full of shit? Absofuckinglutely! But to prove that requires the Judge not be a completely fucking idiot himself, and based on many patent cases, flip a coin. Sadly, time and time again, you're more likely to become a judge if you're a complete fucking idiot. Accordingly, the drama is high around this case because none of us have any idea if intelligence and comprehension are actually factors in this case or not.
A head crash is significant because the magnetized substrate is damaged, frequently destroying the data which was stored on it. Here a minor scratch might occur resulting in a who gives a shit. Its two completely different events.
There is a difference between policy and execution of policy. Legally they require a stern policy so as to provide the latitude they require to sanely operate.
Basically you're complaining because their policy is what everyone does and anyone with half a brain would do.
Complain when they actually start deleting at the slightest of infraction. Until such time, you're either silly, ignorant, or trolling.
In a surprising turn of events, "Thieves have weathered economic down turn because their income is not directly tired to economic success. In other news, freeloads can succeed in any economic climate." News at 11.
This is yet another case of anti-nukers actually making the world a more dangerous and costly place. If the anti-nukers would just shut the fuck up and let intelligent people actually move forward, things would be way better all the way around. As is, everything is more dangerous and far, far, far more expensive than would otherwise be required if anti-nukers would simply shut the fuck up.
Perhaps you should learn to read and place things in proper context. Re-read what he said. The only thing which has been completely invalid thus far has been your replies.
Seriously, re-read what he said and then place adjusting your trolling in accordance with context. His first statement was clearly hyperbole. Big deal. Grow up. His next statement was in regards to a different comment. You nicely conflated the two and then trolled.
The fact he used the word "probably" is extremely significant in spite of the fact it went completely over your head. It means he's putting forth opinion and conjecture based on the fact that such agreements are extremely common practice. That doesn't make his statement any more true but it does make for an extremely viable, common place explanation.
Contrary to one of your other replies - your reply is typical slashdot.
Isn't that when you've been dieting and your sperm has less calories? Although it probably will fill her up just the same as regular sperm. So I guess the old commercials need not apply.
Honestly not trying to make light of rape - but the idiocy of "light rape" just can't be over looked.

What the hell is "light rape"?
Isn't that when you've been dieting and your sperm has less calories? Although it probably will fill her up just the same as regular sperm. So I guess the old commercials need not apply.
Honestly not trying to make light of rape - but the idiocy of "light rape" just can't be over looked.
A rarity these days on slashdot. You did, in fact, parse my statement correctly.
