That'll teach me to be a lazy /.er... I didn't read the thing about having to restart, and clicked the last link...good thing I have a fast index finger on the mouse, and could "Close group" and then end processes through CTRL-ALT-DELETE. But not before firefox took 100mb ram.

  2. Hmm... on U.S. Government Sometimes Jams Keyless Car Locks? · · Score: 1

The article mentions how the interference seems to arrive during times when a large ship is in port...maybe part of security policy changes resulting from the USS Cole bombing, since I'd assume the same technology for keyless ignition for a car can be used on an explosive if one had the knowledge. Another somewhat related anecdote - at the airport in Goose Bay, Labrador where they do lots of NATO air training, my father had the opporunity to talk to the crew of an AWAC radar plane, and found out that the crew was only able to have female offspring. I like my technology, but once it effects my gonads and their contents, it's a bit frightening.

  3. Duck poop fried my keyboard... on What Was Your Worst Computer Accident? · · Score: 5, Funny

In highschool I did a project on animal behaviour for a biology class, which entailed imprinting a duckling on myself, and carrying it around everywhere for the duration of the project, and observing. I was working on my computer, with the duckling on the desk in front of me, and it started doing its 'I'm gonna dump walk'...stepping backwards, wings outstreched and ass up. Next thing I knew, the keyboard was hit around the F keys with a wet one, and it gave out almost instantly. I wonder if anyone else has lost hardware to a duck?

"...don't forget what radical politics has brought the world..." Granted, the term "radical politics" in recent years has been attached to terrorism and its ills, how would the British have described the American push for independence? Labelling something as "radical" or "extreme" is one way people opposed to change can attack it. Save those words for those pushing their views with violence.

OK, let's dismiss Michael Moore entirely because he has some baggage. - sarcasm Sounds like Mr. Edelstein couldn't take being fired like a man. Firing someone is no easy task, and having to do it to a camera is asking a little much. I'm sure if Edelstein walked into Moore's office, and asked for a straight up reason for his firing, sans camera, he'd get it. Edelstein is obviously vengeful. Moore uses his camera when he doesn't get an answer. Edelstein has his: he's obsessive, and he scares his boss, and apparently his public antics aren't helping. Do that to your boss and try staying employed.

I wouldn't go so far as saying it's lying to the public...there are legitimate reasons for protecting certain information that governments are privy to. Lying would be falsifying information, directly leading people to false conclusions. In this case, individuals are taking it upon themselves to uncover what is meant to be obscured, and any false conclusions are their own.

Change the length of the blacked out portion to some standard generic length to avoid disclosing the word length? Then you could only use context.

Or if you wanted to be really sneaky, randomize the length of the blacked out box, to spur wild goose chases.
