The loss of the Challenger could have been due to changing the adhesive on the heat pads 'because of environmental concerns' respecting the adhesive. I've also heard that the Twin Towers failed more quickly because asbestos shielding on the girders was stopped after a certain height and replaced thereafter with a more 'environmentally sound' but less effective replacement.

To the contrary: we have "education", and lots of it. Your call for more of it is really a call for a different content. Current education, in contrast, is aimed at developing a certain type of person; at worst, content is only necessary to fool the people paying for the education establishment. The irrelevance of content/fact can be illustrated in the major education thrust to instill self-esteem. Studies (eg, by the National Organization of Women) have shown, however, that self-esteem is generally inversely related to learning. (My mind is made up, don't confuse me with the facts.) As to dishonesty: the schools don't really teach morals; instead, they teach the complete relativity of "values" (don't be judgemental, etc.). Of course, when someone makes statements that contradict the hive mind conclusion, the hidden values come out. As to honesty: If it was OK for Clinton to lie under oath, as many believe(d), then why shouldn't scientists lie to get more money? It is, at least, slightly more altruistic, and thus arguably 'better', than lying to get out of personal liability.

A couple of points. First, exit strategy. A buyer of a C corporation will pay individual shareholders less than for an LLC because the aggregate tax basis in the LLC's assets after the purchase will increase to the purchase price. In contrast, the tax basis in the assets of a C corporation will not change as a result of the purchase. Increased tax basis means increased tax deductions. The buyer can share some of that tax benefit with the seller by offering the seller a higher price. Second, reducing C corporation profits to zero through deductible payments (compensation, etc.) will work for a while, but when (if) the business becomes successful, that tactic will grow increasingly problematic. (Writing off 100% rather than 50% of business lunches, unfortunately, is just wrong.) Although investors may prefer C corporations for various reasons, they can always set up a C corporation as their investment vehicle. Putting your business in a C corporation is like putting it in a lobster trap: easy to get in, impossible to get out (without a severe tax hit). In contrast, if you start with an LLC, you can always incorporate later (an LLC is a COMPANY, not a CORPORATION). btw--I do this for a living
