I have a 16" LCD Eizo (wish it would have made the review) and would have to say that the experience is awesome. While playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Tribes1&2, DVD's and Evercrack I have not experienced any of the probs that the older LCD's seemed to have. My only gripe is that EIZO only ships analog cables with their monitors. You have to get the DVI by other means. I cannot see myself ever going back to CRT voluntarily.
From your response to the response to that AC with a bad case of ignorance... or maybe just young hmmmmmm... you're right he does make a point me thinks. But not the one you pointed out, because that one is obviously false. When the internet first woke up, the universities traded data and thought. If data and thought wasn't something worthwhile the internet as it is, would not be. His whole post was electronic elephant dung, except for "its called business" . If you've seen the movie "Changing Lanes", the senior partners of the law firm, conducted a similar form of business. They do what they do, because they can.
Many many people are very interested in Africa for minerals, money, history, and original thought... as well as up to the minute elephant reports, or do you think the conservation people don't care about this? "As far as it being their own fault blah blah blah" I dare say you are dangerously close to having nothing to offer to the internet community...shame on me, I suppose you could have physical/mental issues. In which case I'm picking on someone who knows not their thought limitations.
You're right though that's how some companies work. It's just called business, we've seen what Microsoft has done, it's business to bring TV/radio stations under only one or two entities, the major newspapers have been there for years, it's business what they're doing with the mp3 ripping, who cares about the musicians themselves or the listeners, and that regions for dvd are stupid, no wait (if we force people to only shop certain regions...) unless you remember it's just business... so who cares.
What I want to know is, if there were no factories or conservatives millions of years ago, whom do we blame on all of those ice ages ending and starting? And if there is no spoon... is there a fork?
Creator-producers Joel Surnow and Robert Cochrane are the men doing 24, and from my prespective, they're doing an amazing job. The X-Files have had a good run, and even this season is decent. The main Characters we're used to are only hinted at now, so it's a little disconcerting. As far T1000, the character has a similar mind set as Scully had in the beginning. Which is to be expected when someone confronts the X-Files for the first time, but herein lays the problem, we've been through this territory before. Carter will not have to worry about employment for a long time to come I'm sure. But it's time for this to come to a close, so let's see what he can do.
We're still evolving of course. All that is needed is to look around; our height has increased, even over last couple decades. The Darwin Awards prove that some people at least are having major issues with fitness and are leaving the party early. These are just the overt signs.
And please do not be too hard on the scientists, for they too are still evolving in body and thought. Remember this one? I Proclaim the Earth flat and here is my proof! They've been wrong about almost everything at one time or another. And it will not surprise me if over the next hundreds years we find out that most of what we know now is false as well. That is ok with me because I am one of those who are "so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea"
The USA has used police action to correct Great Humanistic Injustices in countries incapable of offering them any opposition for the last ~50 Years. Superficially, critiques have always found convenient oil conspiracies truly running things. Scratch a little on the surface, and the true reason is human nature, human nature, and human nature. I for one am hoping for the privatization of space exploration will happen *soon*.
PS. And Americans wonder why the Arabs do not have political correctness?!
PPS. I love Earth. However I also understand human nature and realize that for the next few thousand years there will be war over food, religion, humanistic reasons, nationalism, boredom and yes Oil. You can blame it on anything you want to. I for one will fight because it may keep my buddy next to me alive.
