    You clearly are not familiar with the industry. There are dozens of implementations (probably about 4 dozen vendors) of VoiceXML platforms, and many tool vendors throughout the world. Many millions of phone calls are handled every year by VoiceXML-based systems. Telcos, wireless carriers, and businesses (of all sizes) are using this technology. Now that the final version of 2.0 has been published, and other dependent languages are being finalized (SRGS 1.0, SSML 1.0, etc.), interoperability between platforms, tools, and applications is improving. There is a platform certification program underway to test and certify implementations. Perfection? No. Neither are most standards. Unlike many standards which beg for implementations, VoiceXML has already proved to be very commercially successful. Every key industry player has adopted this standard.
