I had RoadRunner for 2 years in Ohio. That entire time, I kept thinking to myself "This has got to be faster than 256Kbp/s!". I finally benchmarked my throughput and it was JUST UNDER 9Mbp/s!
Let me tell you, I fixed all my internet acess problems myself from then on. A few months before I moved, my service went down and I was forced to call in for help. I got a comment from the techie - "Oh, this is interesting! Allright, your service should be back on now.".
It was never the same:(
