    If that's even true, then it's good if the press isn't allowed to publicize it. Publicity leads to copycats -- frankly, the less publicity such crimes are given, the better.

  2. iPhones/iPads likely use a baseband "modem" with the same set of commands. This is not a platform thing, this is a hardware thing.

    Solution -- minimize the requirement for identification. Allow anonymity in as many situations as possible. Free services like GMail do not need to know our identities, though it should be optional for things like password recovery.

    Obvious solution: advertise on Craigslist's "short-term/sublet" section, which is semi-anonymous, take cash only in payment. Guess the city will lose out on potential revenue that way, but that's the price it will pay for violating people's privacy.

    Depends how much dirt can be dug up on the Trump administration in the next 2.25 years, and whether a recession will hit and put the economy in the dumper in time for the 2020 elections. A lot can change in a couple years -- a Dem victory in 2020 is very possible.

    Look up "good time" -- she'll get 8 months' credit for good behavior, plus 13 months time served, plus some time in a halfway house. Fortunately, she'll be out on the streets after 3 years, give or take a few months. Good!

    Here's also hoping for a pardon for her from the "Orange Orangutan's" successor.

    Also, let me say that the US "justice" system, which railroads people into a plea bargain to avoid an excessive prison sentence, fucking stinks. Hope the next recession will be harsh, painful, and lead to various jurisdictions in the US becoming bankrupt enough to make sentencing reform a necessity, not an option.

    Or you could go to university in many European countries for (almost) free. Or move to NY State, establish residency, and get the resident's scholarship to CUNY/SUNY. Or do the first few years at a community college in a state that offers it for free...

    Online classes suck -- they don't get you face-to-face interaction that allows you to network with other students and professors.
