  1. Artist's Rendition on Sony's Palm PDA · · Score: 2

I've seen those same images before, but they were being shown as an artist's rendition, not the actual product.

This came on Palmstation last month. If you want to read the article, and the comments there, check out:

If you're interested in a good old school RPG, pick up a copy of Lunar: the Silver Star Story Complete by Working Designs. These people pour their hearts and souls into their games. Additionally, they have many more nifty games comign out soon!

One of the sysadmins at my school has Seti crunching in an SGI Origin 2000's spare time.

That thing spits out a data unit every 18 minutes or so, when it's not in use.

  4. Same experience here. on Cyrix's 'Joshua' announcement · · Score: 1

I've never seen a cyrix machine seem to work properly. I don't know if it's just been the configuration there, or what. My friends cyrix p200 (supposedly as fast as a pentium 200) ran as fast as my pentium 133 when playing games, etc.

Don't know if things have changed recently though.

  6. Didn't Diamond win? on etoy.com Returns · · Score: 1

Ok, didn't Diamond win the suit the RIAA brought against them? How did they get forced into adding copy protection crap into their product?

Did I miss something of great importance here?

  7. That seems to be the way it is where I am. on Women CS Majors Declining · · Score: 1

That really seems to be the way it's always been though. In high school, my AP computer science class had exactly 0 women in it. When I got to college, there was once again, 0 women in my first year of CS classes. In my classes now, there's 2, maybe 3 in a class of 25-30 people.

I don't know how representative that is of the world at large, but it's something that I've always seemed to run into.

  8. Re:Backwards on Connectix Wins Sony Playstation Appeal · · Score: 1

The way I understand it, Sony doesn't make much if any money off the purchase of a system. It's peripherals, software, and license fees that makes Sony the big bucks. The hardware is a one time expenditure. Software revenue, just goes on and on. Does anyone seriously need 3 or 4 Jet Moto games? Additionally, Sony gets license fees from third party developers, so that they can develop games for the Playstation. All in all, I can't see why Sony would complain about anyone expanding their userbase.

I started getting those too, shortly after the story appeared. I would suspect it's probably due to the server getting /.ed.
