I always wondered how James Stewart developed that accent or dialect. I ended up doing some teaching in central PA and did find one guy (who became a fly-fishing buddy) who sort of spoke like him - but then he might have been influenced by, and/or copied, Stewart's style.
All I know is that the world needs more Shatners...
