The PL extensions to SQL, packages, triggers, stored procedures?
From working with several early rdbms, Oracle had the better product. I am not convinced of that today, but still prefer it due to the complementary products and tools, if you can justify the price.

The courts have a public perception problem with the indecisive nature on the MS anti-trust issue; they have deemed MS a monopoly but have no proper reparations in response. There is partial resigning that it is much easier to limit the creation of a monopoly through merger/acquisition blocking. MS was an already established monopoly when antitrust actions were late in being initiated.
