  1. Good things? on Robin Hood Hacker Donates $11,000 of Stolen Bitcoin to Help Fight ISIS (newsweek.com) · · Score: 3, Insightful

    "Phisher adds: "Unfortunately, our world is backwards. You get rich by doing bad things and go to jail for doing good."

    I had never heard of theft being called 'doing good' before.

  2. The purest of equations on Greatest Equations Ever · · Score: 1

    This simple formula changed the world when Einstein proved it's truth.

    t=$

    Where:
    t=time
    $=money

  3. Sharing on RIAA Sues More Music Lovers · · Score: 1

    I used to get in trouble as a kid for not sharing.

    Selfishness is back in style, baby!

  4. Re:Data Embargo... on Yahoo! Not Protected From French Anti-Nazi Laws · · Score: 1
    You said:
    Bad luck, the usual US bullying that work with small countries doesn't work with France and the EU, they're too big, you'll have to live with other people's opinions for a change

    I assumed most people would say that France, as usual, is trying to control what goes on in other countries (by bullying). They can simply block Yahoo in France if they find its content offensive. Instead, they are attempting to force their opinions on all other countries.

    It's interesting how we can look at the same data and draw such diametrically opposed viewpoints from it.
  5. no radio, no laser on Should SETI Be Looking For Lasers Instead? · · Score: 1

    It seems clear to me that neither radio waves nor lasers would be used by aliens. These data-transmission methods are strangled by the speed of light. This would make the response time to their initial "hello" transmission MUCH more than the half-hour attention span typical of both humans and aliens alike.

    The key is to transmit/receive messages in "subspace". Messages in subspace can be heard across the galaxy instntaneously! (according to Star Trek at least)

  6. Re:This is old news. These people get what they ge on The RIAA Sues 482 More People · · Score: 1

    This is a VERY SIMPLE CONTRACTUAL ISSUE. If you don't agree to the contract, don't buy the music. Are you sure there is a contract involved? It has been a while since I purchased a cd, but I certainly don't remember signing a contract, or even seeing a EULA. When I purchase things, they become mine to do with as I see fit. If I want to make a copy of some dinner plates that I bought and give them to my mother for instance, is that also illegal in your world? If it's not, then why can't I do the same with music? If you are not selling the copies, I don't see how they have a leg to stand on in court. According to the law as it stands today, copying music is CERTAINLY not stealing, and it's only copyright infringement if you are doing it for profit.
