I have a BSEE degree which theoretically should qualify me for a lot of different high-tech jobs. But I was laid off a few years ago when the company closed its local branch, and have been unable to find equivalent employment. Pray tell, what would you have me retrain for? Babysitter, burger flipper, cashier? Let's face it, the majority of new jobs that have been created recently are service sector jobs that pay only slightly above minimum wage!
