New Orleans public schools are not what you want. I knew you were from Miss/Ala/Lou right when you said that.
I'm in the same boat, went to Jesuit (in new orleans) and avoided the massive ammounts of HW - now I suck at studying.
As a Dartmouth student watching the TV right now, I can tell you they've addresed all the problems. Wireless access is only available over 802.11a (because if a b client logs onto a g it slows it down) and the wired network. Our wired network is fiber between dorms, with 100mbit in each room (supposedly soon to go gigabit).
There is a nice video guide that lets you see what is on, and when you tune it it starts right up. The only annoying thing is the scratch audio, it has these weird squeaks, but I'm sure it'll get fixed - we've only had it for a few days.
I won't be using any digital music service until I can get all of the music I want in lossless format, that I can later compress to the quality of my choosing for my digital player. When I'm listening to music as just filler I don't mind the quality, but when I'm really listening I want to have something nice to push through my klipsch equipment.
I'd much preferr to use Mail over Entourage but I can't because it doesn't support multiple databases for accounts or have the ability to move my mail to a Junk folder on my IMAP server. I run my own server and space is not an issue so I do not delete mail. This makes it easier to train a new application if I need it - and makes sure that i never miss a message. Until mail can handle multiple accounts better I won't be using it.

nah, I'll still speed.
So now I have to buy another book to replace the other 34 books that I bought to put together a simple 4 machine cluster? I hate books.
Thats a helluva lot of efford for a costume - but I like it!
Finally a service that would focus on the messaging, not on locking people out.

Ha, this one just made me laugh out loud. The "I'm gonna dump walk" LOL
