Microsoft has shown/announced a lot of cool stuff that will work on the "next generation of Windows". If only half of it ever made it into a shipping version of Windows, I might actually consider Windows an option.
I think the story here is more that Slashdot is actually discussing this. I have to hand it to Microsoft PR department - they're keeping "the next greatest version of Windows" in the news, just like they've always done. This is just another way to keep Windows in the news. Got to keep the monopoly going!
This would be great to use for the upcoming elections in the US. One could actually see out of which side of their mouths the politicians are really speaking! Of course, it wouldn't cover the times when they're talking out their asses.
"Note to Microsoft: you have tried FUD in the past, it did not work."
Not true! It has worked in the past. IBM just retired OS/2; an example of Microsoft's FUD working to great effect.
Or how about:
"The CSS license pact has aided the success of DVDs because it has provided protection against illegal copying to copyright owners of movies, television shows and other content sold on DVD."
How many copies to the copyright owners really want/need?

To charge the device does one stick it in a bovine behind?
