And in reply to my own comment, I'd say that while it may be a super idea, I don't know anyone who would trust the hats the government gives us.

  2. Comparison to Iraq on Better Nuclear Waste Storage Plans than Yucca Mountain · · Score: 1
    From the article:
Macfarlane of MIT says making such site secure and terrorist-proof would cost $6.5 billion, at most. "Isn't that worth it? How much have we spent on Iraq? Look what we got for that money."
I think one could use my government's war on the people of Iraq as justification for just about any budget. Imagine the next argument before congress:
It would cost roughly $290 million to supply everyone in America with a tinfoil hat. Look at how much we spent in Iraq! All we got out of that is 100,000+ deaths! Don't you think this is worth it!
  3. Re:Speaking of analog being better on Digital Generation, Analog Retro Chic · · Score: 1

Seriously, what about the future of analog?

I want analog audio storage devices that will fit in my pocket and not get scratched by my keys.

I want a player the size of an iPod with vinyl-quality output.

I want non-linear analog audio recording.

An unrealistic dream, right? As long as every innovation in audio is in digital, it will be.

While charging for the product has made some people rich, I think some people have proved by now that you can get by without charging. If all software was free, IMHO the technology would still bounce along just fine, and probably in a more rational, beneficial, decentralized direction.

How did they handle this in the world of the Matrix?

Oh yeah, plug it into the brain directly and you can worry about simulating kinesthesia and proprioception at the root of the problem.

Once we do that we'll look back at this and think, boy what a silly circuitous solution.
