  1. What will be more interesting... on Verizon-Pushed WiFi Bill Becomes Law in PA · · Score: 1

Is how they plan on enforcing this. It's one thing to pass a corporate backed law that limits the rights of its citizens to use technology, and it's another to enforce it. What can they do? Install scramblers on the wi-fi spectrum??

  2. I've seen this before.. on Massive Multiplayer Gaming Warehouses On The Way · · Score: 1

Another company tried converting old movie theatres into large WAN gaming sites with the full tilt of Alienware machines, etc., with the same amount of hype this story holds. Unless the backers have deep pockets, citing industry figures on the popularity of video games is highly misleading. Most of those revenues come out of distribution, and not from end-user sales. Best of luck to them, but if they survive even two years, it would be very surprising.

  3. The Parents Are an Easy Out on Coping with Gaming Addiction · · Score: 1

Look, any person's parents and their assumed neglect can put a child/teenager in the position of being 'addicted' to video games if they play them long enough or its the only outlet they have for entertainment beyond running around in the yard in their underwear.

The thing is, a child/teenager can make their own choice to put the controller up or down. The more pervasive aspects of whether or not playing games becomes full blown addiction usually comes from the temperment of their environment, and their genetic disposition to form addictions of certain kinds.

Ultimately, the choice is still with the individual.

  4. Does the normal joe get a share? on Google Files for IPO · · Score: 1

Since I'm not personally someone who does a lot of stock trading, here's my stupid question. For someone like me who has a ROTH IRA, 401K, checking account and a mutual fund account, how would you buy shares in this upcoming auction for Google's IPO? Is it a matter of just telling my local broker to get in on the auction?
