I have done what you are trying to do. Over the last 12 years in my software engineering company I have hired family and a girlfriend. Overall it worked out nicely with little complaints.
All I had to present and enforce was one simple protocol - The company is ran by a benevolent dictator, who is me. This is key, only one Chief Bufo allowed. Of course, as a loving dictator you must listen to the people, take advice, and when needed put some control into other people's hands. But in the end there can only be one leader. Personally, I'd rather be a serf, its easier.
Just make sure who you hired knows the rules and agrees - make a written contract!
