I just cleaned out my garage and loaded the curb (for trash pick-up.. the city employees just love those hugh pickups) with stuff that someday MIGHT be worth something... anyway it sounds like the contest will be a fun thing. Since the code has gotten pretty solid lately we may have to wait a few years. Some of the stuff reported on Bugzilla is rather trivial. Watch out the lawyer types may get involved deciding what a bug is or isn't. (Similar to Bill C's. 'it depends on what the meaning of is is')
The 64K questions is why do they keep this information in the first place! I can see why they may want to know how many time a certain work is taken out so they can make intelligent choices in picking books that are of interest to the individuals that use their facility.
With the advent of the automobile what happened to the buggy and carriage makers; the harness makers; the stable hands etc. Some adapted and others threw in the towel. The Fischers (became part of GM eventually) and the Dodge Brothers and the Studebakers switched to making automobiles. Time marches on and and those that do not adapt become another casuality in the course of time.
This is mostly smoke. They really fear the amount of code that is covered by other's software patents (patents which should not have been issued in the first place) and code that was copied from countless others. They have been caught using patented code in the past.
Get a life!!
