Finally, someone is on the right track. Linux needs some things (other than pretty GUIs) to be successful.
Number one thing is video drivers that have the same performance as Windows video drivers.
Secondly, more printer drivers.
Thirdly, games, especially single player games. WineX is not a viable solution for this mostly due to compatibility and performance issues.
Most importantly, the process of getting these things setup really needs to be brainless. No tweaking required. Most people don't have the time nor the inclination to screw around with the command line getting X running and getting their video drivers setup.
We lost power for about six hours. I went golfing, came home shot some pool by candlelight with the Mrs. and then the power came back on.
Makes me wonder why so many people lost power for days???
No it isn't similar, to make your point similar TV companies would have to actively sue universal remote manufacturers for figuring out the codes and frequencies for the TVs and McDonalds would have to patent the French Fry and threaten to drop Coca-Cola if they persued a contract with BK, or Wendy's.
The problem is that monopolies like MS do not innovate, they do as little as possible to keep the revenue rolling in. WMP9s only innovation is DRM, and DRMs only purpose is to ensure a revenue stream to the content provider and to the technology provider (MS).
That was freaking cool.
