Heh, well, I'm not going to laugh at you. I've been running 2.6.4 on a production MySQL server under unholy load and its been fine. The general specs of the machine are
2 Xeon 3.06 w HT enabled 8G of RAM 10x 72g Ultra320 drives
It performs much, much better on 2.6 than it did on 2.4.22, I have to tell you.
