Balsac consumed up to 60 cups of coffee per day during his frenzied writing career and did indeed die of caffeinism. Of course he drank coffee for 20 years. The coffee was a blend of French and imported, among the strongest around. One hundred cups of coffee per day will probably do you in, but not in one day.
