It's probably better if we concentrate on finding
an alternative to JPEG and not insist on believing that gimp (and open source) wouldn't be affected by such patent stuff.
So, what do we have until now:
- PNG (doesn't work)
- JPEG 2000, part-1, ok (what's this about, anyway ?)
- What else ? It seems that there's no other option !!!
(this could be another task to xiph. maybe we could begin with one frame ogg movies:-D )
