  1. Re:All this talk about the DMCA... on Automated DMCA Notices Still Full of Lies · · Score: 1

Oh man, that wild idea got me going...

Post a bunch of mpegs like that, e.g.,

TheMatrix.mpg = a short clip that shows...a matrix! Maybe even show Gaussian elimination in action.

ReturnOfTheKing.mpg = Bush stepping off of Air Force 1.

    etc.

Could have a lot of fun with that :-)

  2. Re:Solar constant on New Material for More Efficient Solar Cells · · Score: 3, Interesting

I live in the Arizona desert, and the bright sunlight is BRIGHT (I've built solar ovens that bursted into flames in seconds). I would love to see this energy be put to use, lord knows there's enough of it.

I could imagine huge solar arrays in the middle of nowhere (which is easy to come by in this state) coupled to superconducting magnetic storage coils (made by American Superconductor) to handle the few days that aren't so bright.

*sigh* Sadly, the government in Arizona is more concerned with trying to make the perfect standardized test for high schoolers. Too bad...the power received here could juice up a good portion of the West.

  3. MY Wi-Fi bot... on Wi-Fi Security Robots? · · Score: 5, Funny

The idea was of a micro air vehicle with a CCD camera and an intercom that I could control via the campus Wi-Fi network. I could sit at home in my underwear eating Cheerios and literally "land" my little robot on my desk at the 8AM antenna theory class and "attend" lectures :-)

My biggest concern would be lag that would cause me to lose control and crash into a door or the professor's head. Then again, imagine this: You're happily strolling to class and right as you get to the closed door, this tiny robot aircraft hovering there starts talking to you "Hey, little help with the door, please?"

    Awesome :-)
