I graduated with a CS degree from Wisconsin back in '01. It took 10 months for me to get a job @ an equally low salary. The bright side of the story is that my salary has increased about 66% in 2 years - which I don't think is too unusual when you start low (under $30K).
I wouldn't worry too much about it..if you got an offer in dollars & not in Rupees you're doin' just fine.
