  1. MPAA on MPAA Targets TV Download Sites · · Score: 3, Interesting
What about non-US sites that are "pirating" US television. Do they have to respect US copyrights?

It is technically legal to download anime that's copyrighted in Japan but not yet licensed in the USA.

  2. Re:"Leaked?" Please. on Xbox 360 & Next-Gen Live Specifications Leaked · · Score: 1
Congrats! You just showed yourself to be an ignorant ass. So you saw 3.2Ghz and think that has any relevance as a metric to compare with other desktop chips? Fucking clueless clown.
Actually, the "specs" say PowerPC chips, they don't say what kind of PowerPC chips -- so the 3.2 gHz rating could have any number of meanings. AFAIK PowerPC chips are not even close the 3.2 gHz yet, so the observation that they're higher mHz than current on market CPUs, including those of the same architecture, is still relavent. I -could- be wrong though.

So, please show me charts, benchmarks of these chips you seem to be so keenly aware of.

Aparently you are aware that CPU mHz is not a reliable metric of performance between chips of different architectures. What -you- failed to do was quote anything useful or provide anything constructive, so you're not helping anything. If your aim was to make yourself look smart by insulting someone else, then you've succeeded, congratulations! Asshole.

  3. Maybe... on OSDL Denies Rewriting Kernel · · Score: 3, Interesting
...this sounds like complete bs. For the sake of argument, instead of rewriting the kernel maybe they (ibm, redhat, novelle, whoever) should be working on developing material that would help them in any court cases against Microsoft, i.e. prior art and whatever else can help to combat any of those 27 patents.

Then, if there's a patent that they think MS might try to stick them with, re-write/change only that part of the kernel that's affected.

Am I the only one that thinks an entire re-write for operating system technologies that have been around long before MS is a little silly?
  4. Lame script kiddie on 'Opener' Malware Targets OS X · · Score: 5, Insightful

Overall this script looks pretty lame. A good "rootkit" should do everything possible to not make itself noticeable.

Doing things like changing preferences and turning on 5 different methods of remote access is a bit obvious.

What's really obvious is running john the ripper on the machine that was hacked. Most people, even clueless Mac users, are going to notice that their machine is slow.

Even brute force DES attacks are not feasible if your passowrd is not dictionary based, so cracking the password isn't going to be quick.
