All power (whether from green sources or not) will eventually be transformed into heat, increasing the temperature of the Arctic. This could be a problem on the long term.
Good question. In principle, the economy should be able to solve any problems. If water gets too expensive, meat will get even more expensive and well, people will have to stop eating meat.
The problem is that if you go down that road, your laws would have to be written down so precisely that it would actually be impossible to write them down. For example, how would you define "a person"? This suddenly becomes non-trivial. Better to let a judge interpret the law by common sense.
There is a law that says you can't photograph somebody inside a house (e.g., through a window) or in a similar place which is considered private property.
And the part of the body under the skirt can be considered to be in a private place.
You see, it is just how you interpret the law. The judge should do this in a way that conforms to expectations. Following the law literally and blindly is not a good idea.
Because the Universe can't tell the difference between you and another person, you are both. Because you are both, by transitivity, you are everybody. Hence, you will never die.
At worst a waste of multi billion dollars when it could be spent on other more fruitful missions.
Here's another idea: why don't we fork science? One half of science we let believe that there is life on Europa. The other half of science we let believe that there isn't.
Both halves can proceed with their work, without spending even a dollar!
Because I like tcsh most. However, it has its flaws. For example the glob expansion has a hardcoded limit, which has often failed on me in folders with large amounts of files.
Compare it to opening a nudist beach, and then spying on your customers.
Yes, this is voyeurism, even if your customers have "agreed" to your EULA.

This assumes you know the salt used to compute the hash.
The arstechnica reply states this explicitly, but I don't understand this assumption.
How can the hacker be assumed to know the salt?
It is also time to stop glorifying Googlers and Facebookers.
They should be called voyeurs.
Good question.

Eric Schmidt: there's no reason to have any secrets.
Just the kind of friend you would trust with your secrets.
If everybody used bitcoins, we wouldn't need any exchanges or banks.
You forgot about the pr0n angle.
You have no idea what people will use that second OS (with its completely separate filesystem) for.
For those who missed this, here's a great article:

The problem is that HTML, CSS and javascript are just too darn complicated to implement correctly.
Perhaps we are sitting in a scale model of the "real" Universe...
Perhaps in the future I should get my groceries at a government-owned supermarket then.
This is just shifting the problem.
What we need to cure is: fear of aging.
What happened a step 2?
2. Profit!

Not entirely true.

And the part of the body under the skirt can be considered to be in a private place.

If 2-6% is nothing, why not donate that percentage of your monthly salary to a good cause?
You're going to die no matter what
Actually, it is the opposite.
Because the Universe can't tell the difference between you and another person, you are both.
Because you are both, by transitivity, you are everybody.

Just like 9.7" smartphones were suddenly called "tablets" and were equally wonderful.
You couldn't use them to make a phone-call, though.
Or they might learn to build the next Hadoop/Cassandra/etc.
...Eric Schmidt told us there should be no reason to have any secrets.
This clearly demonstrates that "you" are the product!

First, they weld shut the hood. And now they lock down the navigation system...
It is only a natural progression...
