    well being as they've been there for about 9 months, have posters about them all over the inside of the bank, and are on every RBC ATM in town, i'd think not.

    the royal bank made a small tweak to their ATMs to prevent that old trick. they've got a green plastic thingy bolted over the card slot. it's impossible to sneakily slap on one of those skimming things over the thing. cheap and effective measure.

    Im also not so sure that the US first amendment has an equivalent in canadian law. I know it doesn't have a 2nd amendment equivalent. we certainly do have a first amendment equivalent, in section 2 of the charter of rights and freedoms, though subject to limitations in section 1 and/or section 33 (though the latter is political suicide).

    2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:

    (a) freedom of conscience and religion;
    (b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;
    (c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and
    (d) freedom of association.

    despite it being one of the least healthy lifestyles on the face of the earth, mentally, physically, and socially. the first and 3rd are only unhealthy because people make it unhealthy and the 2nd is pretty debatable, especially comparing to other more common lifestyle choices, like excessive alcohol drinking or even eating fast food regularly.

    not homophobic, i have no problem with them. parent was just waving about porn being "disrespecting towards women", so either male-only porn is disrespecting towards men (and no one cares that it is) or neither is disrespecting to either.

    the average life expectancy, quality of life and, yes, access to resources and opportunities has dramatically increased for our species. I'm pretty sure those are the causes of the massive growth rate, rather than effects.

    COBOL is still alive and kicking in the financial sector and it's fairly decent for what it's designed to do. i really wouldn't want to use it for general programming, but i wouldn't want to write a payroll app in C++ either.

    yeah. all the ILECs (bell, telus, sasktel, and whoever else) are required to lease out lines at a fixed cost. very nice for competition (i run out of fingers counting all the companies that i could get service from), though bell is/was screwing with throttling other provides.

    cam ripping can produce fairly good results if done with a good (read: pro-sumer or better) cam, a tripod, and an empty theatre, but yes, as a general rule, they suck horribly.

    mouse i did drop about $90 on (logitech mx revolution), though i'm quite happy with my cheap $25 logitech media keyboard (the play/pause/next/previous buttons are handy).

    i don't believe they can mess with *69 though. at least i haven't found any that have. lots of calls on my callerid from (123)456-7890, but *69 reveals the actual number (mostly niagara falls area numbers.)
